I joined RELATE Lab after learning about the work that this team does to bring a more human center method of care to the healthcare system. This is something that I’ve always been passionate about, my first career in healthcare was a certified nurse’s assistant (CNA). I obtained my licensure during my senior year of high school with the intentions of going into a nursing career. However, after taking an undergrad course in Healthcare Quality Improvement and having the first hand experience as a caregiver two things occurred to me. One, I saw the gaps in the healthcare system and two, Quality Improvement was a tool to help address these gaps. From there I decided to go into healthcare administrations where I felt I could address these issues and be an advocate for my colleagues and patients. After my undergrad I continued to pursue my education and graduated in late 2019 with my Masters of Business Administrations. I love learning new things and being able to apply them where it counts the most. I’m fortunate enough to work with a team of like-minded, bold and courageous individuals who identify gaps and can come together to address the root cause. While understanding that with every system there are humans who drive the results, and until we create relatedness to those who drive our systems change and effectiveness rarely occurs.
